AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A local non-profit gave the community an opportunity to help raise funds that bring healthy foods and education to the Augusta area.

The Harvest at the Hub fundraiser took place on Friday night, and every dollar from the event helped Augusta Locally Grown’s mission.

Its goal is to provide nutritious and wholesome food to undeserved communities.

It also provides education and resources for healthy foods.

“Local produce is so important for our health,” said Diane Kerekanich, interim executive director at Augusta Locally Grown.

“It’s so important for our economy and for our region, and so a lot of our farmers they’re getting older and they’re going to want to retire soon and enjoy the fruits of their labor. We need the next generation to come up and be able to take that place.”
